Welcome to Shawn’s Domain! This space that I have set up is for myself to post all of my ideas on the different technology stacks that I am interested in. I am most likely going to focus mainly Golang and all design patterns associated with Go. However, I do a lot of work in distrobuted services like microservices so will most likely be including a lot of topics in that domain including Kubernetes/Kafka/Helm.

Why am I starting this now?

So there are a few reason that I am starting this blog and site up and I promise I will not go into too much detail to bore you. It is a bit strange that with about 10 years of experence now that I am just starting a persional website along with a blog but I never really needed or wanted one. From the start of my career with my first job at a software company called Lixar I never really needed much detail for interview or resumes because I got them based on my reputation and merit. I got my job at Lixar because they were a sponsore at the first hackathon I ever attended and won second place. Ever since then, I dove head first into the startup space which I rarely even had interviews because I has such a good reputation and skillset that it was not needed.

So then, why am I starting this site now? Well the first reason is actually because I am just in love with Golang. So What does Go have to do with starting a persional site and blog? Well, one day on the internet I found this static CMS site build in Go called Hugo which markets itself as the “world's fastest framework for building website” and it was built in Go! That is it, I had to learn more and it being build entirly in Go and using Go’s templates I had to go down this road.

That is not the only reason. At my current job I find myself writing a lot of documentation so that we have resources for developers that might be lacking skills in different areas can utilize these documents to better help the projects they are working on. When I found the Hugo CMS I just knew it was the perfect time to start creating similar types of documents but for the public usage rather than just internal to the company.

So now it begins. I hope you will get as much value out of this site and these pages as I will for creating them but also using them as a reference for myself.
